Although there is nothing to stop you passing calls from Newfies-Dialer to a separate A2Billing server using SIP, the capacity of Newfies-Dialer to make outbound calls far exceeds the capacity of A2Billing and Asterisk to terminate those calls. Putting it simply, Newfies-Dialer could overwhelm A2Billing without great care in setting dialer limits.
The appropriate solution is to create a new accounting and billing system for Newfies-Dialer which will not limit the current dialling capacities of Newfies-Dialer, and at the same time, make Newfies-Dialer a much more attractive solution for service providers wishing to provide auto-dialling and mass voice broadcast services to their customers.
The costs and time to deliver such a solution would depend on a number of factors including the complexity of the billing solution. Some of the factors affecting the cost are listed below.
- Billing – post-pay or pre-pay, live rating or rating after the call.
- Credit limits or simple monthly billing in arrears.
- Cost per call – based on destination and duration or flat rate per call.
- Online Payment integration.
- Reporting options, such as CDR, Debtors, Age Debtors, carrier reconciliation, etc etc.
- Invoice generation complexity and flexibility, on demand or timed, in advance or in arrears, with recurring payments, credits and charges.
- Online signup, or manual provisioning by Newfies-Admin.
Although this is on our roadmap, it is near the bottom of the list because of the vast scope and individual customer requirements of a billing solution. The development could be accelerated with a closely defined software specification coupled with sponsorship from one or more interested parties requiring billing functionality in Newfies-Dialer.
